SBAN call for session proposals + case studies on climate gentrification

The 2025 SBAN Conference will be held in College Park, Maryland, November 12-14. We’re seeking individual presentations, panels, and workshops that focus on how to foster resilient small businesses and remain resilient in our anti-displacement work. This includes how to support communities and small businesses in the new economic and political landscape, how to secure funding in the wake of federal cuts, how to work with policymakers and other partners to get things done at the state and local level, and how to talk about anti-displacement work in communications and grants. Conference speakers will have their registration fee waived.

SBAN’s 2025 call for case studies focuses on how climate gentrification affects small businesses. We’re seeking proposals to study how communities are combating climate gentrification and preventing small business displacement. In particular, we’re interested in efforts that have worked for BIPOC- and immigrant-owned businesses in communities that are impacted by climate disasters, long-term effects of climate change, climate migration, or climate resilience investments that kickstart or compound gentrification.
